Abstract

Considering the advances of biosemiotics in its inquiry of the semiotic nature of life, the present paper focuses at advancing in another direction of the same field of research, which is grounding the observation of semiotic events, and therefore grounding general semiotics, in biological insights. With that in mind, the paper analyzes events of symbiosis, mimicry, camouflage, and aposematism in the life of the media, specifically in advertizing practices. Finally, it argues in favor of a parasitological semiotics, given the evidences of parasitic semiosis in everyday life and in the media.
